"A Better Lifestyle"

The Rural City of Murray Bridge, in partnership with Community Home Support Program provides support people to live at home.

Please be advised that waiting lists exist for all services.

Who is Eligible?
The programs are administered from the offices of the Rural City of Murray Bridge and are available to residents in the Council area who are frail, older, have moderate to severe disability and the carers of these people.

Domestic Assistance
House cleaning
Changing bed linen and making beds
Hanging out washing/ironing

Home Maintenance
Changing light globes and batteries in smoke alarms
Washing windows
Cleaning gutters
Minor plumbing and electrical repairs
General repairs

Gardening Assistance (once a year or as funding allows)
Trimming of trees and shrubs
Drought proofing gardens
Weeding and lawn mowing

Home Modifications (following assessment by Occupational Therapist)
Installation of grab rails
Ramps
(All installations are to Australian Building Standards)

Respite (provides Carer with a break from their caring role)
In home respite with a Respite Worker


TRANSPORT (*Criteria applies)

Local (Murray Bridge Township - Transport provided by volunteers)
Fortnightly essential shopping
Trips to medical appointments
Social (e.g. Senior Citizens meetings)

Out of Town (Transport provided by volunteers)
Medical appointments at Mt Barker, Aldgate, Stirling and Strathalbyn
Late appointments need to be discussed with Co-ordinators

Adelaide
Coorong Coaches offers transport to residents* who are unable to travel via regular transport for health reasons
Cost of $23 round trip
Reimbursement may be available at major public hospitals
Appointment times must be between 11.00 am and 2.00 pm
Wheelchair and gopher access

GROUPS

Men of the Barbie
Men of the Barbie is a social group for older men who live alone in the Council area.  They meet monthly for day outings, visiting areas and attractions of interest both locally and in the Adelaide Hills.  Tours are followed by lunch.

Women's Group
Leisure Lunch and Laughter is a social group for older women who live alone in the Council area.  They meet monthly for day outings, visiting areas and attracions of interest both locally and in the Adelaide Hills.  Tours are followed by lunch.
